Reflexology

Reflexology

Reflexology is a relaxing, non-invasive, therapeutic modality that is done by gently stimulating the reflexes located on the feet. There are over 7,000 nerve endings called reflexes that correspond to the various organs, glands, and systems of the body. Through the application of pressure on the reflexes, reflexology can:

  • Increase circulation

  • Decrease anxiety and stress

  • Decrease pain and tension by release of endorphins

  • Balances blood pressure

  • Aids in the assimilation of nutrients

  • Encourages the body to release toxins and waste

  • Improves lymphatic drainage

Reflexology can also help manage many common ailments such as:

  • Insomnia

  • Digestive and hormonal issues

  • Colic in babies

  • IBS, Crohn's, Colitis

  • Fibromyalgia

An Example of How Reflexology Helped Our Patient

Sharing with Clients Permission: Parkinson's Disease

A client came to me, with what the Dr. believes is the early onset of Parkinson's disease. Balance is off, trembling of the hands and feet, neck pain and pain the wrist/hand causing them to bring their hand towards the chest when walking. After trying different therapies, this client decided to try Reflexology to see if it could help them with what could possibly be the early onset of Parkinson's disease. Just after one session, it was noticed immediately that the client was walking completely straight vs leaning forward and to the right!! Not to mention, that during the few hours after the session that not once did the client bring their hand towards their chest! After their second session, it was noted that the trembling in the hands and feet drastically decreased and was not so pronounced like before and the client was actually able to nap and sleep which has been a struggle for quite some time now! This client is amazed with how quick things for them have improved and will be coming back for more sessions!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to prepare for my reflexology session?

Please wear comfortable clothing. In particular, pants that can be pushed up past your knee. Most of the treatment will be focused on your feet but we pair a couple Thai energizing techniques to get you back on your feet and ready to face the rest of your day.

What will my first session be like?

You will lay comfortably on our massage table with your pants rolled up to your knees. You'll be able to cover up with a cozy blanket and our table is heated to keep you comfortable. Reflexology feels a lot like a foot massage but does so much more.

Will my insurance company provide coverage for my Reflexology Treatment?

Reflexology is not regulated by the Government at this time, but some insurance companies may cover complementary therapies under a general heading. There are changes happening all the time and at present, Blue Cross, Sun Life and Greenshield will cover Reflexology in some of their benefit packages. So be sure to check with your provider for your coverage details.
